The Board of Magistrates published its year to date averages as of May 31, 2004.
The year to date averages are as follows:
Open Award: 4.34
Closed Award: 2.10
Denied: 4.03
Misc: 2.34
Total: 12.83
The interpretation of these numbers are that the average magistrate has tried 12.83 cases this year and has delivered an open award to the claimant 4.34 times and ruled for the employer 4.03 times. The hybrid award is the closed award. This is the split decision. Benefits are awarded to the claimant for only defined period of time. There is a start date and an end date. The average magistrate in Michigan has awarded comp benefits to the claimant for a defined, or "closed period" of time 2.10 times.
